Scope of Position: The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve food in accordance with the current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines and regulations, established policies and procedures—directed by Dietician and/or Dietary Manager, to assure quality service is provided at all times.

Qualifications:
1. Must possess a minimum of 10th grade education.
2. Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
3. Prior experience in food preparation is preferred.
4. Must be at least 18 years old.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Prepare food in Dietary department and satellite kitchen in a safe sanitary manner.
2. Review menu prior to preparation of food.
3. Prepare food for next day for salad bar, dessert and item of the day.
4. Prepare food in accordance with planned menu and what is ordered by residents at meal times.
5. Serve food in the satellite kitchen in a timely manner and accordance with the established portion procedures.
6. Responsible for daily supervision of dietary staff working in the satellite kitchen and dining room including delegating and monitoring of duties.
7. Restock and maintain an adequate number of supplies in the satellite kitchen.
8. Clean satellite kitchen cooking and counter area following each meal served and leave the satellite kitchen in a neat and orderly fashion.
9. Perform other daily/weekly scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
10. Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly manner at all times.
11. Report to supervisor all hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.
12. Make sure all dishcloths are stored in soapy/sanitary buckets.
13. Assure that all leftover food is placed in food safe containers, marked with date and time, and placed in walk-in cooler or freezer and cool down procedure is followed as needed.
14. Assist in taking out frozen meat for the week and placing it in walk in cooler for the week based on menu.
15. Report any complaints and grievances oral or written to Dietary Manager.
16. Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.

6. Report for work every scheduled day, on time and follow rules for the time clock
7. Respond to staffing needs of the department including calls for help when short staffed
8. Participate in department meetings and maintain appropriate number of in-service hours.
9. Practices safe work habits and reports all accidents/incidents, regardless of how minor, to immediate supervisor as soon as they occur and completes required incident report.
10. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.

1. Must be able to bend, stoop, and move intermittently throughout work day.
2. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 35 pounds from floor to waist.
3. Must be able to lift 20 pounds from floor to shoulders.
4. Must be able to lift 15 pounds from floor over head.
